The Ministry of National Security, in partnership with the St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit, has officially launched the National Biometric Enrolment and Passport Modernisation Programme.

This major upgrade brings the Federation’s passports into full alignment with the highest international biometric and border-security standards used by the European Union, United States, and United Kingdom.

Find out more about the programme on the official Citizenship Unit page here.

A Secure, Modern Passport for the Future

The new biometric passport incorporates advanced technology to create highly secure, fraud-resistant travel documents. During a straightforward 15–30 minute appointment, citizens provide fingerprints, a facial scan, and a digital signature.

This data is captured once and securely embedded in the passport. There is no need for re-enrolment when renewing your passport in the future.

This upgrade aligns St. Kitts and Nevis with leading nations including the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, all of which already issue biometric passports.

By modernising travel documents, St. Kitts and Nevis strengthens the integrity of its citizenship programme and helps citizens travel with confidence and credibility worldwide.

The rights and status as a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis remain completely unaffected by this programme. This is solely an upgrade to the passport.

Programme Launch and Key Dates

The programme goes live on 14 April 2026.
